Giant's Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede
"T'was a boastful warrior's roar,
From Ireland's coast to Scotland's shore;
In Antrim you'll ney longer plunder,
Vowed Finn McCool to Benandonner."
- Richard Burke

On the Tour

We were very lucky to have warm, sunny, and relatively dry weather most days. Our luck ran out the morning we went to the Giant's Causeway, with fog and cold rain welcoming us. However, that didn't stop us from walking out to enjoy the sights. The mist almost made it more magical! To warm up and dry off, we spent time at the visitor's center, where we learned about both the geographical and mythological explanations for how the Causeway came to be.
The sky started to clear when we headed to the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge. Crossing it was far easier than I was afraid it would be, and once again, the view from the other side didn't disappoint. Several of the sites we visited on our tour required a long walk and uneven ground or stairs, but the challenge of getting to the destinations enhanced our enjoyment of them!

Tip for Shy Introverts

Just Admit It!
My tip on the previous page recommended pretending to trick your brain into confidence, but that doesn't mean you should fake it all the time. It's just as important to be honest about what you need each day to better enjoy the trip and the company of your fellow travelers. Being a shy introvert is nothing to be ashamed of!
If you're anything like me, being one can also lead to having insecurities. For example, I would have hated for any of the other tour members to think I didn't want to socialize with them, if I needed alone time. I also made it a point to tell many of the travelers that I was forcing myself to meet new people to counteract my natural tendencies. Whenever I explained myself to a new friend on the trip, they were more than understanding.
